Volkswagen Type 1, designed by Ferdinand Porsche in 1938, was commissioned by Hitler in 1934 to create “the people’s car” which any average person could afford. Also known as the Beetle, the sales of VW Type 1 surpassed the sales for Ford Model T by 1972, and more than 21 million were produced and sold by 1992, getting the title of one of the best-selling car in history.

This one’s for @frog_design! Apple IIc, released in 1984, was the first Apple computer to introduce the Snow White design language developed by Hartmut Esslinger, the founder of frog Design. The Snow White design language is known for its modern case styling using vertical and horizontal stripes with the unique off-white coloring, which Apple adopted for their products from 1984 to 1990.

The Kikkoman soy sauce bottle, designed by Kenji Ekuan in 1961, is an iconic design that’s under-appreciated by many. It took three years and over a hundred prototypes to perfect the glass and the red double sided dripless spout, in order to control flow and prevent drips on the table. With Ekuan’s design, Kikkoman was successful to make its way into many homes and restaurants around the world, making good design accessible to everyone.
